Hello! My name is Matt Adams. I am a writer, filmmaker, and actor from New York. I currently split my time between the U.S. and Austria and am working on a range of creative projects.

Filmmaking and creating original content have been my life for the past 20 years. In high school, I filmed sketches and music videos for the bands that I was in. When I was in film school, a video that I directed and played the lead in was featured on Adam Sandler’s website, leading to my first viral video.

After I graduated, I began studying improv and connected with the popular NYC-based prank collective, Improv Everywhere. Videos that I have been a part of have been viewed over 250 million times. As a member of the group, I saw a larger opportunity outside of what we were doing on YouTube, so I directed a feature-length documentary about the group, which premiered at the SXSW Film & TV Festival. After playing the festival circuit, the film was licensed by Netflix and it can currently be seen for free on YouTube.

When the film was finished, I had a brief stint in TV writing and consulting on the ABC show, "Would You Fall for That?" When one of the stars of the show was cast on SNL, we ended our run early, and I began working as a video journalist behind and in front of the camera in my home town of Syracuse, New York. It was there that I met my wife, a native of Austria.

In 2020, I created the viral character "The Maskalorian." From 2020 to 2022, the project gained close to 60,000 followers between TikTok and Facebook and more than 10 million views across platforms. The Washington Post did an exclusive feature on the project.

I am currently writing an original screenplay and just released the trailer for “The Flap Your Trap”, a parody art film that I wrote, directed, produced, and performed. Check out the trailer below and for background info about it, please take a look at my new website, MattOnTheMoon.com

Right now, I am seeking U.S. representation as both an actor and a writer. I am looking for paid opportunities to continue to bring more film and television projects to life. I have a wide range of experience and a diverse skill set, both in front of and behind the camera. As an actor, I received training from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, The Lee Strasberg Institute and also have extensive training in The Meisner Technique. As an improv actor, I trained at The Upright Citizens Brigade in NYC and IO in Chicago. I have even done brief stints in voice acting, and for my latest project I performed all 15 voices myself.
